The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding is the best way to address the current inequalities between children eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) and those who are not, by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.

At St. Mary Bourne School we take care to plan an approach to meeting children's needs, noting the groups of students, who have been nationally identified as vulnerable categories: Free School Meals (FSM), Special Education Needs (SEM), Black and Minority Ethnic (BME), English as an Additional Language (EAL) and Looked After Children (CIC).
